We are the in house skin and beauty tech team at GESKE. We write about app guided devices and the routines that get the most from them, in plain English and without the hype.

An LED mask only works if you actually use it, and use it well. The good news is the routine is short and hard to get wrong. Here is how to fit one in, and how often to bother.

If you want the background on what the light does, start with our guide to LED face mask benefits. This piece is purely the how and the how often.

Start with clean, dry skin

Light works best with nothing in its way. Cleanse, pat dry, and leave your serums until after. A facial cleansing brush makes quick work of the prep, though clean hands and a flannel are fine too.

Skip heavy oils or thick creams beforehand. They can sit on the surface and get between the light and your skin.

How often, and how long

Little and often beats marathon sessions. Two to four short sessions a week is a sensible starting point, and many people settle into a quick daily session once it becomes a habit.

With the Sonic Warm & Cool Mask a session is about two minutes, because it pairs eight LED colours with warming, cooling and sonic pulsation. Whatever mask you use, steady weeks are what count.

Where it fits, and a safety note

Use your mask on freshly cleansed skin, before serums and moisturiser, then carry on with the rest of your routine. Morning or evening both work, so pick the slot you will actually keep.

If you are pregnant, on medication that affects light sensitivity, or managing a skin condition, check with your GP first. An LED mask supports the look of your skin and is not a substitute for medical care.

The honest version

Clean skin, a couple of minutes, a few times a week. That is the whole method. The only mistake that really matters is not keeping it up.
