We are the in house skin and beauty tech team at GESKE. We write about app guided devices and the routines that get the most from them, in plain English and without the hype.

Dark circles and puffy eyes are the most photographed worry in skincare, and the most misunderstood. Some of it is sleep. A lot of it is simply how your face is built. Here is what is really going on, and what genuinely helps the look of tired eyes.

We make the SmartAppGuided Warm & Cool Eye Energiser, so the eye area is our home turf. The advice below works whatever you use.

What actually causes dark circles

There is rarely one cause. For many people the shadow is structural. The skin under your eyes is the thinnest on your body, so the tiny blood vessels beneath show through as a blue or purple tint.

Pigment plays a part too. Sun, rubbing and genetics can leave a browner tone that runs in families. Add the natural loss of plumpness as we age, and a small hollow forms that casts its own shadow.

Puffiness is a separate story. Overnight, fluid can gather under the eyes, which is why mornings are often the worst and a salty dinner does not help.

What genuinely helps the look of tired eyes

Cold is your quickest win. Cooling the area briefly tightens the look of puffiness and calms a tired, swollen appearance. It is the reason cold spoons and chilled rollers have lived in fridges for decades.

Gentle massage can help too, encouraging a brighter, more awake look around the eye. A little warmth before the cool can make your skincare feel like it settles in better.

Be realistic about creams. Caffeine and similar ingredients can reduce the look of shadows for a few hours, but structural and pigment circles are stubborn. Consistency beats any single miracle.

A one minute eye routine

Start clean, then apply your eye serum or cream so there is a little slip for the device to glide on.

Warm first to relax the area, then cool to refresh and de-puff. With the Warm & Cool Eye Energiser that is about a minute, with 11,000 gentle sonic pulsations doing the massage for you.

Do it in the morning to look more awake, or in the evening to wind down. The trick, as ever, is little and often.

When to see someone

Most dark circles are cosmetic and nothing to worry about. If they appear suddenly, sit on one side only, or come with other symptoms, see your GP.

If you are pregnant or managing a skin condition, check before adding any device. The Eye Energiser supports the look of your eye area. It is comfort and care, not a medical fix.

Why the Warm & Cool Eye Energiser

It pairs warming and cooling in one small, eye shaped tool, so you are not juggling gadgets at the bathroom sink. The shape is designed to sit comfortably around the eye without too much pressure.

It is SmartAppGuided, so the app walks you through each session, and like every GESKE device it carries our 15 year guarantee.
